Re - GM’s dilema with Pontiac/Buick, etc.

Here’s 40 years as a supplier to the auto industry plus a 5 Chevrolet owner speaking:

GM’s current line-up is a mish-mash with overlapping features & models — No brand identity — Here’s a solution that offers brand identity and growth:

Pontiac - 2dr vehicles
Buick - 4dr vehicles
GMC - 2500 & up
Saturn - incorporate Saab and become US’s answer to Hyundai
Hummer - capitalize on its ‘rugged’ image and expand it to include an industrial truck line (forklifts, etc.)

And finally…………..Bob Lutz for at least GM President if not Chariman

With all due respect to Mr. Schaffner:

Pontiac: About 80% of current sales are 4 door vehicles.
GMC: About 80% of current sales are 1500 series (aka 1/2 ton) models.
You have just destroyed any chance for survival of the Pontiac/Buick/GMC retail channel.

If you are suggesting adding the Saab vehicle line-up to the Saturn dealer network in North America… That might work.

Hummer forklifts? Are you serious?? Is the local Hummer dealer prepared to purchase a small fleet of service trucks that will call on warehouses and factories 24/7 to keep their freight moving??? Hummers are for poseurs… forklifts are for real work.
