2008 Beijing Olympics Chevrolet ad
The 2008 Summer Olympics open tomorrow night in Beijing--and a new set of Chevrolet ads touting its newest green machines and its stalwart trucks will be aired on American television during the opening ceremonies.

The ads focus on four models: the Chevrolet Malibu, Silverado, and 2009 Chevrolet Traverse crossover vehicle, as well as the coming Chevrolet Volt hybrid. In the ads, Chevrolet claims the Silverado is America's "best" truck, from V-8 fuel economy to warranty coverage; the Malibu is tops in Initial Quality in its class, as deemed by J.D. Power; and the Traverse is building on the Malibu's success.

The ads also put out GM's take on fuel economy, saying the automaker sells more 30-mpg vehicles than Toyota or Honda. One of the ads to air during the Beijing opening ceremonies will showcase the Chevrolet Volt "range-extended electric vehicle," or as we call them here at TheCarConnection.com, hybrids.

The Beijing Olympics open tomorrow night and continue through the 18th of August, with guts, glory, protests, doping, human-rights violations and even more untold stories to come--and we hope, another gold for Lindsay Davenport.
