Chrysler has announced a recall of its Sebring and Dodge Avenger sedans.

The recall affects 212,347 cars outfitted with tire pressure monitors. All are 2007 and 2008 models, the Associated Press reports.

The recall, posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on its Web site, says that the vehicles involved could have faulty electrical connectors in the tire-pressure system. Corrosion could lead to a short circuit, which in turn could cause battery problems, difficulty in starting the engine, and stalling.

Chrysler says they've received nine reports of stalling, but none of accidents or injuries.

Most of the recalled vehicles were sold in the U.S. Starting in mid-April, Chrysler will re-seal the monitors or replace them free of charge.

shawn makes a good point, every vehicle in the US undergoes a process of falling apart, it just amazes me the free pass some of the companies get. it shows that effective PR means alot.

I work for a small Chrysler-Dodge Dealership in Pa. I go on MSN.com today and see right on the home page the following article:

    Chrysler recalling 212,000 Sebrings, Avengers
Chrysler LLC is recalling 212,347 Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Avenger passenger cars worldwide to fix an electrical problem that could lead to engine stalling and other issues.

Which leads me to this question: Why is that every time there is a MINOR recall on an American manufacturer’s auto this is front page news? However, right now Toyota is having a SILENT recall on their Toyota Tacoma due to rusting frames to the point where they are worried that the frame will snap. They are giving owners 150% of Blue Book Value to buy back their trucks. As an example. the Toyota store near me has AT LEAST 100 of these trucks sitting next to their lot in a field RIGHT NOW. They are crushing them! If you do a search on MSN.com, CNN.com, or FOXNEWS.com, for this recall, or the words Tacoma buy back, or anything like that, NOTHING comes up. Even if you Google it, you just get a few personal blogs that mention it, NO MAJOR OUTLETS. I just don’t understand why this is. Just want some fairness, not the bias.

They need to recall all of these cars...and stop selling them. I had one as a rental. I think a 1994 Hyundai had a nicer interior.
