While the Big Three Bailout gets underway a second time in Washington, Silicon Valley's got a better idea for the future of commuting.

No, we're not talking about Tesla and its hopes for a bailout of its own--or even the Fisker Karma. It's this golf cart powered by batteries and owned by the CEO of Facebook.

A sharp blogger near TCC's palatial Palo Alto headquarters sent us this shot with a warning: "I only have one blog, so this is the only place I can put things up," he says. if you're Republican, you might want to get the smelling salts.

While Wagoner, Mulally, and Nardelli drove to D.C. in hybrids, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg carts around the Facebook campus in this golf cart, close to but not actually on the campus of Stanford U.

"Notice the license plate that says 'FB Poke,'" our contact says. Poke back!

The most surprising was that billionaire guy Bezos, the CEO of Amazon, who did a 60 minutes piece, I believe, and they showed his old, beat up 1994-98 Accord Sedan. The 60 min guy was incredulous, and asked him why he did not have a fleet of Ferraris and Rollses, and he answered that it was a "perfectly good car". Not a car enthusiast, obviously.

This sensational fixation about the private jets has to stop. I'm sure the execs on Wall Street and AIG didn't have to give up their jets, nor kowtow to the ignorant Congressman grandstanding for the cameras.
Why don't the media outlets report about the double standard?

You'd be surprised. Gates used an old TD Merc (kind of like Colin) for many years as his primary mode of transportation. Kevin Rose (digg, revision, etc.) had and probably still does a compact VW. I bet you that this 24-year old CEO drives something small too. I don't think he has a wife yet though his $1.5 billion fortune makes him attractive to many women including Ed. Like I said, these people don't care about that stuff.

This is silly. Just as we bemoan the detroit CEOs and their private jets, we laud some CEO for posing in an electric cart (it's not an actual vehicle). Do his wife and children drive electric cars? Does he make his executive team all drive electric cars? Details like that would be much more newsworthy that a gratuitous golf cart around campus. I must not be drinking from the same punchbowl...

It is a different breed of people and quite amazing! The dude has hundreds of millions (if not a couple of billions) at his disposal and ends up in the golf cart... The only golf cart I'd be in is away from civilization, away from the dangers of other cars and crazy drivers, playing golf all day as long as I could drive to the beach later on. Oh, and I'd do two chicks at the same time :-)
