TheCarConnection.com is on!After months of hard work by TheCarConnection.com’s teams in California, Israel, and all over the rest of the U.S., we’re proud to bring you the most comprehensive rethink of this Web site in its history.
We hope you’ll notice the big changes right away. We have a new way of doing reviews. We have a great new look and a new architecture that’s been developed to make it easier for you to find the car information you need quickly. And our new blogs will keep you in touch with what’s going on around the car world.
TheCarConnection.com’s New Reviews
Let’s start with our reviews. In our rethink of TheCarConnection.com, we realized that you have dozens of resources to study while shopping for—or just reading about—a new car. So we’re going to do some of the homework for you. Our new format is properly dubbed a “meta-review.” Take a look at the 2008 Ford Fusion for an example. First, we collect opinions from other trusted Web sites and compile them into a conclusive review—so you know precisely what the top auto reviewers from around the world think of a particular car. Then, TheCarConnection.com’s team of car experts—executive editor Marty Padgett and road test editors Bengt Halvorson and Rex Roy—add our own driving impressions and more details, where they help you get the information you need to make a decision.
We also write a condensed version of this review, to give you the “bottom line” on the car—what we think of its styling, performance, comfort and quality, safety, and features.
And on top of that, we’ve added new features to TheCarConnection.com’s reviews, including pricing information, consumer and professional opinions from around the Web, related news and specifications, along with free price quotes.
TCC’s Tips and Advice
TheCarConnection.com’s latest edition provides you with valuable tips and advice too. You can read the latest tips, or select a keyword from the “tag cloud” at the top of the page. This information will also show up on the pages with cars you’re researching, to help you in the shopping process.
News and Blogs
TheCarConnection.com hasn’t dropped news – it lives here instead. You’ll find industry news items over at Paul Eisenstein’s blog, while Marty Padgett will be covering the car news that’s most important to shoppers—including spy shots of all the upcoming vehicles for 2009 and beyond.
Other Features
The good news doesn’t stop here. You’re already in touch with our iPhone application, and our RSS feeds have been revised to bring you better text and images in a steady stream.
Our newsletters are still on hiatus as we examine the best way to bring TheCarConnection.com’s experience to an e-mail format. Not only are we working on that, but throughout the year, we’ll be introducing new and improved ways for you to discover the world of cars, including our award-winning coverage of the world’s major auto shows.
Once the dust settles, we’ll be hard at work on new features and new technology, as well as great car stories. Until then, we’d like to get your feedback – just drop us a note at feedback@caradvisorynetwork.com.
Thanks,
The Car Advisory Network Team

May 12th, 2008 - 4:06 pmWe’ll be back to blogging full-time by the end of the week. Give us a little bit to tuck in some loose endsand we’ll bring you the latest on the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, the Audi A4, and the upcoming Ford Flex — as well as some news we’ve held back during our relaunch.

May 12th, 2008 - 5:01 pmUm, yeah, I was about to give up on CC entirely and wanted to give one more look. Sorry Marty and friends, not worth it. Can’t tell what you guys want to be this time but while this redesign is a bit better than before, it’s just not a winner. Not even close. Whats happend to the great writers you had in past? Some folks up there now, and i dont see many, write like students handing in homework assignments. This was the best car site out there. Not anymore. I guess you tried. But the new look is a yawner. You’ve just lost what you used to have.

May 16th, 2008 - 11:23 amThis site is now way too confussing. While the old site had old data and not much content, you were at least able to find a section. Where is the Spy Photo area? It feels like you’ve taken two steps back.

May 16th, 2008 - 2:18 pmThe spy shots are right where it says in the blog item?

May 16th, 2008 - 2:32 pmSorry, I know how much work goes into this, but it’s not a good redesign. Yes, I can see some artistic elements here and there, but it does not come together. At least not in IE7, Win XP.
In addition to the design problems, the content is not well presented, unfortunately.
It looks like you’re avoiding putting an emphasis on supplying daily news, and while I definitely do read reviews, there needs to be daily fresh content to interest me.
Sorry to say, but you may want to rethink your strategy both of design and content.

May 16th, 2008 - 4:55 pmFirst off, we appreciate you taking the time to comment on the new design. David, you have it right - we’re putting a new emphasis not just on reviews, but on how we review cars. There are dozens of places to read car reviews and, from our internal studies, we’ve found that people want a place where they can collect all those opinions together, and have experts point them in the right direction.
Our other fan base of enthusiasts and industry types doesn’t need this kind of attention — which is why we’ve kept a good focus on news with our blogs. We’re ramping up to speed on those this summer, as we finish compiling our new reviews for the 2007-2009 model years.
As for the design, it’s always difficult to get used to new navigation. Having worked on producing and editing every single version of TheCarConnection.com, I think this one’s the cleanest and easiest to navigate yet–tell us why you think otherwise? Maybe we can help you acclimate.

May 22nd, 2008 - 4:20 amhi mike,
my sentiments are the same as the above folks. i used to read this site minuite by minuite but for some reason it lost its shine. in many ways i preferred the old look. it just felt more “glamorous” if you know what i mean. even the car connection banner at the top looks plain lazy. the old one with the dark blue background was light years ahead. the overall coulours used are too pale too. now i read worldcarfans.com miniute by minuite instead. the “news” section should be in your face not relegated to the bottom of the screen. as with any product you need to see whet your rivals are doing, and here you clearly missed an opportunity im afraid sorry.
