By now you've read our Bottom Line on the 2008 Ford Focus. It's a solid choice if you’re looking for a roomy car that handles well with a base price that starts around $15,000--but let's be honest, it's not the most attractive Ford two-door ever.Ford's noticed too--so the 2009 Focus two-door is getting a quick refresher course in clean styling. Gone are the front fender vents, and a new front bumper's been styled. Ford says the front end picks up some cues from the new 2010 Ford Fiesta, which isn't a bad car to mimic, and that it's added fog lamps as standard gear on the two-door. The brightwork has been toned down, and a new high-mounted spoiler is added on Focus SES coupes, while the SE keeps its decklid spoiler.
Focus SES coupes also get a tuned exhaust and a new final-drive ratio for their four-speed automatics, which should drop 0-60 mph times. The 2.0-liter four remains otherwise the same, and makes 143 hp with the five-speed manual, 140 hp with the automatic.A PZEV version turns in 130 hp and with the five-speed, gets 35 mpg.Stability control is now available on the Focus two-door, and the SES versions get standard SYNC entertainment controllers.

May 16th, 2008 - 10:36 pmFord should import their European designers. Compared to the Focus on the other side of the Atlantic, this one needs a lot of refreshing.

May 18th, 2008 - 5:53 pmMan…this is bullsh!t to begin with! I’m not a Ford, or domestic fan for that matter, but why won’t Ford cut thr crap and quit giving us the watered-down wack-@ss Focus?!?! In Europe they get the versions of the Focus and other Ford models that people are actually proud to drive. Give us the real deal Ford!!!

May 31st, 2008 - 8:18 amYou’re all right. It’s really pathetic, an inferior piece of machinery with an idiotic grille and headlights.
BUT FOrd sells 25,000 a month, so obviously it will not care what we think.
Loyal Ford buyers seem to migrate from the Expeditions and Explorers they cannot afford to the Focuses (Foci) they can.
And I bet most of them, secretaries and fast food employees, would care less if they do not get the 2nd gen.

May 31st, 2008 - 7:08 pmWell, this might sound like a sad commentary, but the Focus is Ford’s best selling car. It is certainly better than the Cobalt, G5, and the hugh sales flop the Astra. The truth is that Ford will never give the US the current European version of the Focus. It is too sophisticated and thus too expensive!
