The 2009 Honda Pilot becomes official in just a week -- April 15, Tax Day, is the day Honda's set for car magazines and Web sites to tell all about the new crossover from a recent press drive.
But TheCarConnection.com's spy photographers have been hard at work to line up high-resolution 2009 Honda Pilot photos -- and today, they got them.
Brenda Priddy reports: "our spies went on a scavenger hunt to find one. And boy, did we ever get lucky! We managed to find a small group of Pilots just moments before they were to be loaded in enclosed car carriers."
We’ll have full details on the 2009 Pilot next week.

April 10th, 2008 - 12:08 pmAs a Honda shareholder I can appreciate the conservative styling that Honda mostly offers, but this Pilot has some unfortunate cues of the former (and failed) Buick Ranier which is a dissappointment. I have no doubts about the quality of the vehicle and ergonomics of the interior, I just wish they would put a bit more personality into the build.

April 10th, 2008 - 3:00 pmSQUARE-ONE AUTOMOTIVE:
EVERY NOW AND AGAIN, HONDA GOES THROUGH UNCOMFORTABLE PERIODS WHEN THEIR CORPORATE DESIGN ETHOS SEEMS TO BE GUIDED BY THE TORTURED BRAIN- SPASMS OF THE INSANE CLOWN POSSE. AND THEN, JUST AS ABRUPTLY, THEY VEER WILDLY TO THE OTHER EXTREME AND ADOPT A PAINFULLY AUSTERE AND DRAB DESIGN LANGUAGE THAT’S NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO LOOK AT. FORTUNATELY, THESE TRAUMATIC OUTBURSTS ARE USUALLY RARE AND SHORT LIVED; AND THE NEW HONDA PILOT IS A GOOD EXAMPLE OF THE CAR BUILDER’S SAFER DESIGN EFFORTS. THIS IS CLEARLY INTENDED TO BE A MAINSTREAM PRODUCT, USING ITS SUBTLE QIRKINESS TO SET ITSELF APART FROM THE UBER-ABUNDANCE OF SAMENESS SWIRLING AROUND IT. AND ON THE WHOLE, I THINK THE 2009 HONDA PILOT HAS DONE A GOOD JOB OF DIFFERENCIATING ITSELF AND SHOWING THE INFLUENCE OF ACURA’S NEW STYLING WITHOUT PLUNGING OFF THE RADAR SCREENS OF PROSPETIVE BUYERS. I EXPECT IT TO DO WELL.

April 10th, 2008 - 3:44 pmNot all that mind blowing, to be honest…. To be fair, Honda has rarely displayed the kind of “ground-breaking” designs that has people running out to pay sticker price premiums when a new model is released (like the latest T-bird, PT Cruiser, & VW Beetle). However, they always seem to design and build vehicles that have staying power and do not require rebates a year later just to move them off the dealer lot. With the Honda name, I am positive it will be a super vehicle that is best in class, just like the current Pilot. Honda will probably sell as many of these as they want to.

April 10th, 2008 - 3:56 pmSquare-One has it right; Honda has periods in which safe designs are shown; thankfully, Honda usually comes back shortly thereafter with a more passionate design. Honda’s a good design company, so I’m hoping the interior design & will have the usual Honda simplistic & functional design.

April 10th, 2008 - 5:05 pmThis has all the “style” of the Sub-Zero in my kitchen! (Well, sorry to insult the Sub-Zero people!). This Honda follows in the “tradition” of the Element, Ridgeline, and Odyssey, which all look like the packing boxes they were shipped in. Why are the unable to figure out that a vehicle can look good AND be functional?

April 10th, 2008 - 8:09 pmNow Best of luck for HONDA!.But I’m extremely irritaded (like most of the readers) with the GRAFFITI of the photographers on the image, they’re vandalizing nice photos,We demand JUSTICE! BASTA!,MFISH (enough is enough)!,no more writting on the pictures, otherwise,I ‘ll throw my computer on the ‘Paparazzi’ spy photographers!.
Now let’s all protest against the trend to vandalize the nice photos in uncivilized, and uncultured manners!.

April 10th, 2008 - 8:56 pmIs it just me or is that a picture of a 90s Ford Explorer with a Honda badge photoshopped on?

April 11th, 2008 - 8:40 amLooks like Ford and Honda have teamed up to reduce costs by sharing the side stampings of the Escape for the new Pilot.
What’s with the grill? The TSX, Ridgalanch, and now this thing need some aftermarket help BADLY to fix that mess! Nothing is uglier on a dashboard than the gear shifter.
I’m sure some idiot will buy though, simply b/c it says Honda.

April 11th, 2008 - 3:14 pmConservative, differentiated styling? This new Pilot makes the new Toyota Highlander and Dodge Journey look adventurous and the Buick Enclave look down-right dramatic. The “box” is a very efficient design, but it’s time to think outside-the-box.
