2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDIThe 2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI comes standard with a lot of things--among them, a $1,300 tax credit that pays financial homage to its high fuel economy.

Volkswagen says the new TDI models, Jetta and SportWagen, are both eligible for the IRS' Advanced Lean Burn Technology Motor Vehicle income tax credit, which in this case provides a $1,300 tax credit to TDI buyers.

The 50-state clean diesel Jettas go on sale this month, and VW says the new diesel rates 30/41 mpg. Standard features include six airbags and stability control, while rear side airbags are an option. VW also bundles in free service for the first three years or 36,000 miles. Prices start from $21,990.

Does anyone know if it comes with the urine tank to help with emissions like the Benz E does?

I think it comes with a tank that stores the particulates and then burns them off by injecting them back into the cylinder from time to time… That is why the fuel economy is not higher…

I thought “sort of” was going to qualify that AMT filers can kiss the 1,300 rebate goodbye.

The 2009 TDI unfortunately does not offer a nicer seat package for those willing to pay more, only the standard “leatherette” manual,
