“Redneck Stonehenge” Defies a Utah Suburb

First came Stonehenge. Then came Carhenge, out in Nebraska. And then of course, came the mini-Stonehenge in "Spinal Tap," which was made of Styrofoam and was in danger of being crushed by a dwarf.

Now, tiny Hooper, Utah--a suburb of Ogden--has its own mini-Carhenge, built by a mad local farmer with a backhoe and a mission. Rhett Davis is the auteur; he's sunk three cars along his property line to show the encroaching neighborhood being built next to his farm that he was there first and will remain there for some time to come.

"This is just a fun way for me to say, 'Hey boys, I'm still here,' so I started building a fence out of cars," Davis told the local Standard newspaper. "This is my redneck Stonehenge."

Davis' new neighbors had begun complaining, as soon as they moved into the pristine new homes built next to his farm's haystacks. The haystacks caused dust and flies and mosquitoes, after all. When he offered to pay half the cost for a fence, neighbors turned him down, saying they liked the view.

Davis does say he'll pull down the cars when he's ready: "These can come out just as easy as they went in."

Let me get this straight - these people bought houses next to a farm that had been there for years (at least since this guy was 7) and now they are complaining. I have an idea - move somewhere else, like somewhere that’s not built beside a farm.
