Audi A5 and S5 - Embargo Victim!
Audi A5 and S5 - Embargo Victim! Here's another car we've been telling you about forever - and finally, pictures of the new Audi A5 have broken free of the embargoes they've been under in advance of the Geneva motor show in two weeks.
Details are still sketchy, but our past spy shots tell us that the 2+2 coupe-convertible adapts the design of Audi's Nuvolari concept car, which was on display at the Geneva Motor Show back in 2003.
The coupe appears to be considerably larger than the current A4, almost the size of today's A6. And though it seems to take on the likes of the BMW 3-Series Cabrio, Mercedes CLK, and the VW Eos, the A5 is going to occupy a price niche a little above those vehicles. Neither the BMW 5-Series nor the Mercedes E-Class comes in coupe-convertible form.
Power will come from a wide range of Audi engines. Expect everything from a turbo 2.0-liter four with 200 hp to a 350-hp V-8. Three diesels will also be offered.
The new A5 Coupe is expected to be released in 2007, while a canvas-top Convertible will arrive a year later.
Stay tuned for more from Geneva, more from Audi, and more from the Web at Geneva embargoes fall like beads at Mardi Gras.

For your comment on " Neither the BMW 5-Series nor the Mercedes E-Class comes in coupe-convertible form. " is false. The 6-Series is the 5-Series in coupe and in comvertible form but seperate models, for the E-Class i think that the CLK is the altenative for that.
In my opinion the A5 is a nice car, but it lacks the caracter of the R8. I even find the TT being a blend design.
