Acura Teaming Up with W Hotels

Acura Teaming Up with W Hotels
Forget waiting for a taxi. In the coming weeks, you’ll be able to check into one of 18 upscale W Hotels around North America and get a lift in an Acura MDX crossover/SUV.

It’s part of a new partnership between the Japanese automaker, the upscale arm of Honda, and the hotel chain, which will formally launch on April 1 and run through the end of next January.

In an announcement at the New York Auto Show, Honda officials also noted that, as part of the project, dubbed the “Acura Experience,” guests at several W properties will have an opportunity to test drive Acura products.

The program aims to provide “both jet setters and road warriors with the ultimate in experiential travel, whether in room or on the road,” said Ross Klein, President of Starwood's Luxury Brands Group, which operates the W Hotels. a stupid idea.

Acura has failed as a luxury division of Honda for two reasons,

    1. Hondas cost $10,000s less and are just as goo0d, and some have even better styling than the acura re-badge,

    2. Acura styling is weird-aggressive in a silly way, esp. the MDX and RDX snouts. I don't care how many comparison tests they win, they look ludicrous up front.

Wow, Thor you just don't like anything this morning....lol

Anything that can get the new word out about Acura is an idea worth looking into. Obviously regular media advertising isn't doing anything to help them, so why not try something else?

No, I like Hondas quite a bit, and as I explained above, how good they are is the major reason Acura did not fly as well as Lexus or other luxury makes.

Why would anybody buy the Acura TL, which is a rebadged Accord V6 for $5,000 more?

Why would anybody buy the MDX and RDX when they are rebadged Pilots and CR-Vs, and worse looking ones too, for 10,000s more?
