Cobalt SS Priced Just Under $23,000
Cobalt SS Priced Just Under $23,000Chevrolet’s Cobalt SS will be available in late April- hitting the showroom with an MSRP of $22,995, including destination.
The new Cobalt SS lacks nothing in power, with a new turbocharged 2.0-liter Ecotec four. GM says it whips out an impressive 0-60 mph time of 5.7 seconds, made possible by the turbo four and a five-speed manual transmission. The new FE5 sport suspension makes for a smooth ride and improved handling. The SS is also outfitted with Brembo brakes to quickly bring four 18-inch forged aluminum wheels to a stop.
The Cobalt SS is equipped with an exclusive appearance package, giving it the sporty look it deserves. The suede-like seats, along with the turbo boost gauge and a specific shifter arrangement, dress it up far beyond the stock Cobalt two-door.
At this price the Cobalt SS is loaded with features like XM radio, OnStar, and a premium sound system. Other options available are an upgraded sound system, sunroof, a rear wing spoiler, and a limited slip differential.
The SS Coupe is available in the spring; an SS sedan will be offered at a later date. Another great car from America's premium maker of fine automobiles. Truly world class!

Would anyone over 22 buy this car?

Its about time America got a turbo engine FWD. Too bad it's 8 years to late. And lacking a 6 speed manual. And the interior is still rubbish. Sure, GM will tune these cars on the Nurburgring, but race them? Perhaps gain some pedigree? No, probably not.

"Thor" makes fun of GM's effort with this car, but if it were the same exact car with a Japenese or European nameplate on it instead of Chevrolet, He would be tripping over himself, telling us how great it is! GM is finally coming out with truly kick-butt cars, and guys like Thor just don't get it. Time to park your predjudice, and evaluate the car on it's many merits.

"...Yeah well, uh, I bought a Mazdaspeed 3 for a little more. I really want to buy a car made in the USA but they are not what I'd call mature or refined in this segment. The Mazdaspeed 3 is tight and powerful with a slightly understated appearance that doesn't shout HEY, LOOK AT ME OVER HERE WITH A TURBO...COP! I would never get respect from my boss driving a Chevy Cobalt, but when my boss saw me driving my new car, he shouted HEY, NICE CAR! from his Porsche. He has a lot of nice cars and I felt good about my decision in buying the ms3. The Cobalt just doesn't have the credibility that a performance center car does. The SS letters don't mean a damn thing. If Chevy had a tuner division like Dodge's SRT or Ford's SVT it might be on to something that would give credibility to a more powerful automobile other than calling there cars an SS and dropping a slightly more powerful engine in and adding big brakes and 18" wheels. There's nothing special about this car at all or the other SS vehicles Chevy makes either. Total let down.

There have been American Turbo FWD cars since the 1980's. They do race them. John Heinricy is a multiple-time national champion in road racing, and he engineered the suspension tuning. That is more than enough pedigree.

it is not like the old days for sure....when ss ment super sport ...or super stock.
Now it is just another econo box stuffed with some new tec. that all other ecno boxes have.
Good luck tho.....you have major competition from over here not the over seas market.
