Toyota Is Minneapolis' Official Car
Toyota Is Minneapolis' Official CarTo ring in the new deal, the cities and the automaker held a kickoff ceremony yesterday in St. Paul. Pictured are St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman (left) and Toyota general manager Bob Carter.
As a part of the deal, the Park & Recreation departments of each city will be given a total of 10 vehicles as well as $300,000 by Toyota during the partnership period. Out of the 10 vehicles, six will be hybrids, which will fit well with St. Paul’s determination to “go green” and make their footprint on the environment that much smaller. Toyota claims that all the cars they will donate to the cities dominate their respective classes in both emissions and fuel efficiency.
This deal is far from one-sided, though. Toyota gets citywide event sponsorships in St. Paul and Minneapolis as well as the opportunity to place their vehicles at all city events, giving them wide reach to put out their marketing messages. Both Toyota and the cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis will also be able to market their energy-saving programs together. I wonder how long it take the heater on a Prius to warm up when it's -20 degrees?
Wouldn't want to be the dumb city worker that has to find out.

Hey Jay,
One nice thing about the Prius is that, to insure reduced emmissions, it has a thermo insulated coolant tank that keeps the coolant at operating temperature for 3 days or more at -20 degrees. Which means hot air will be coming out of the heater in far less time than the average car.
Take that! Obviously, you are one of those people who like to write about things to show how uneducated you really are.
I am sure that Toyota would like to thank you for the opportunity of telling one of the little "stories" about what makes the Prius such a great car. By the way our prius is averaging just over 50 MPG. What are you getting per gallon of the liquid gold you are pumping into your dinosaur? Hmm, you can find the phone number of you closest Toyota dealer in the yellow pages...

Great idea. (And just a clue for some folks who don't have one ... many Toyotas and Hondas are built in the US, and many so-called "American" cars are built overseas.)
Sounds like the folks in Minneapolis are paying attention to both the environment and the bottom line. Good for them.
