These photos of the production 2011 Chevrolet Volt have been released on a media information Web site.

The pictures of the production Volt show all the details we've been bringing you for the past months--along with the GM engineers in charge of developing the vehicle.

We'll be talking to those engineers and GM vice chairman Bob Lutz next week, as TheCarConnection.com heads to the Renaissance Center for the world debut of the Volt. Keep this page bookmarked for more photos and more details as they emerge this week--and stay tuned next Tuesday for all the coverage of the Volt we can possibly generate.

UPDATE: GM says the photo release was an accident.

Bait and switch? Class action deceptive trade practice case?
    Tsk, tsk....

What happened? I wanted one of the concept types. This looks like a Prius. Another GM POS. Give me an EV1.

I agree that is one ugly Prius wanna-be...what happened to the cool VOLT concept car....no way would I pay $35k plus for one of these. I used to really stand behind GM. No wonder they are having trouble selling cars.

This car won't sell on styling. It doesn't have to. It's the technology, or as some troll on here likes to say, it's the mpg's, stupid. Nobody gives a rat's ass what it looks like once they see how much money it's going to save them on their daily commute.
I'm not bowled over by the styling either, but then, the bar for styling on these technology showcases is set very low. You want a stylish hybrid? wait for the 80,000 dollar Fisker Karma.

Well I have to agree the concept vehicle had my attention as to the style. This one sure doesn't have that!
But having said that and being a 50 something guy I would be interested in knowing how long it takes to recharge and what it's going to do to my electric bill?????
40 miles range isn't rally that much when I drive 25 miles to work one way every day so that's 50 miles round trip. It's not gonna cut it for me to drive to work. Bummer Heavy Sigh!
Maybe the wife could drive one since she only drives 3 miles one way to work. But then it really wouldn't be saving me allot in terms of gas would it?
I'll reserve my final decision once it's on the market.
Thanks for trying GM please don't give up!

Looks good. Make the U.S.A. proud, GM.
Keep the car "made in the U.S."
OK, Ford, get off your hindends and get busy too.

I agree that this looks more like a leftover prius than the so sweet looking hot rod that could give the Tesla a run for the money... http://www.thetorquereport.com/voltfront2-thumb.jpg
My only hope is that GM still has 1 year before they ship it and hopefully they will deliver on the orginal design and not the blahhh in these pictures...

I just want to say that this car is beautiful, however doesn't like the car of the future. I would not expect to pay more than 30,000 for this car. It doesn't look like a car that will be stopping traffic any time soon. Sorry to burst your bubble guys but you need to make a more futuristic gar that's still good on gas. Not your best work by far.
Looks kinda like a cobalt which I all ready currently own.
Back to the drawing board guys, you still have some time.

What happened to the prototype Volt, that was way cool. This "thing" looks like a over stuffed civic. GM you blew it.

At least the Prius looks different. While style should not be the primary driver (no pun intended) it is important. People want to like what they drive. The original concept car looked a lot like the Cadillac XLR which I think is a great looking car. This was not some far out crazy looking concept which was why people thought that the production car would at least be similar. This is very unfortunate for GM. They need a big win, quite frankly, we should all be pulling for GM on this one...that is my $0.02.
