The pictures of the production Volt show all the details we've been bringing you for the past months--along with the GM engineers in charge of developing the vehicle.

We'll be talking to those engineers and GM vice chairman Bob Lutz next week, as TheCarConnection.com heads to the Renaissance Center for the world debut of the Volt. Keep this page bookmarked for more photos and more details as they emerge this week--and stay tuned next Tuesday for all the coverage of the Volt we can possibly generate.

UPDATE: GM says the photo release was an accident.

They sure took the looks out of this car. Have been saving up to get a new volt now since it looks like a UGLY family car I see no reason to wait. Thinking about a proven ugly Toyota again.

Hey GM, you had a big winner with your concept design. What happened! You turned it in to granny's Sunday driver. you just lost a sale!

The hot babes are missing. Why are old guys with grey hair posing with a brand new car? Is GM deliberately wanting to keep us away from buying the car by making it ugly?

the Volt is awesome...I want one

    Sports Car to average sedan.
Ok, so it doesn't look THAT bad, but i was going to buy one, even if it meant waiting in line.
but now... its just another Green car and looks like a green car too.
GM's does have a saving grace... they could say this is: Volt 1.0 - AKA fat Prius
Volt 2.0 - AKA Sports car (concept design)
Volt 3.0 - Pick up truck
I say 3.0 cause its obvious that GM this its ok to come out with a concept vehicle, and release as something else?
why not make a concept SUV, and release a family minivan too?

    @ TheWeatherWarrior
I agree the GM will do 'well' with this.
    But honestly. 'well'?
the car cought the attention of EVERYONE. now its back to that peice of the pie that is the Green people.
Imagine how 'well' the car would have sold if they kept the same look.

I really don't think the new design is ugly. In fact, I like it very much. Though, it really is far from what people had been expecting in the first place.

Typical, GM doesn't have a clue what was selling. The looks of the concept car were exciting and a reason I'd buy one. If they're going to toss the concept car's looks, then why bother with building a new car? Make the VOLT an engine option for a Malibu. They look nice and are already tooled and tested. a plug-in Malibu is something I'd buy, not that ugly comprise the old guys are modeling.

Hey GM! Are you guys retarded. You turned the Volt(a sweet concept cars) into perhaps on of the ugliest cars I have ever seen. I was so eager to invest in your company and be an owner of the volt but I honestly have no confidence in your company. Your designers are completely out of touch with what people want. Your executive decisions are laughable and frankly, I am not surprised to see you are sever finical crisis.

The Volt is yet another example of why GM is going under. The vehicle's design lacks any sense of innovation and is a manifestation of GM design by committee coupled with the usual corporate group think. This is a car that was meant to offend no one and now will appeal to nobody.
As far as the energy saving/green culture appeal, the idea that it goes 40 miles on a charge, however MIGHT get 30mpg?, no make that 50mpg?, no make that 100 miles on a tank of gas plus a charge, smacks of GM possible deception, or the car's seemingly efficient use of energy is something even GM is uncertain about.
Yes, this vehicle is another example that demonstrates why GM deserves to go out of business.
Indeed GM's management has run out of gas, and this "electric" car will not save them.
