These photos of the production 2011 Chevrolet Volt have been released on a media information Web site.

The pictures of the production Volt show all the details we've been bringing you for the past months--along with the GM engineers in charge of developing the vehicle.

We'll be talking to those engineers and GM vice chairman Bob Lutz next week, as TheCarConnection.com heads to the Renaissance Center for the world debut of the Volt. Keep this page bookmarked for more photos and more details as they emerge this week--and stay tuned next Tuesday for all the coverage of the Volt we can possibly generate.

UPDATE: GM says the photo release was an accident.

How much visibility do you think you'd get in that concept car? Look at it? I've driven a 300, it sucked. Couldn't see a damn thing. And this car is designed with an aerodynamic form to cut drag down. Not so you can pretend you're driving a Camero. This is about fuel efficiency and lowering emissions, not so america can continue it's romance with oversized cars you can use to compensate for something.

Harry: "Ignorati"? please, have you seen how much Toyota marked up the Prius this year? In California you couldn't buy one for less than $35k and that's if you can find one. I laugh at the idiots that bought the cars at that inflated price they'll have to drive the car for 10 years at $7 per gallon gas to reach a ROI. And has anyone ever told you (Harry) that most generation plants in the US are still coal fired? You are still polluting my friend, it's just happening further up the supply chain... But Hey! don't let me rain on your holier-than-thou rant, as long as you feel smarter than everyone else that's all that counts. LMAO

It's actually not that ugly. It's not particularly beautiful, but ugly - no. IF it can come of the production line and do what it says it can do, or close, and IF the cost can be kept in the low $40s, THEN it will be a success. Even more exciting are the possibilities for using the technology in other vehicles in the GM line. Imagine a crossover with 60 mpg, or a Suburban with 40 mpg. If these become reality GM will save itself. If not, I'll get a Prius, but I'm going to wait long enough to find out.

The Volt is needed and will do well but there is one problem that is being overlooked and I haven't seen a solution. The Volt will only appeal to single family homes that have a garage or a drive way with a place to plug in. Most people live within 40 miles of work. The best advantage is the ability to plug in and not use the Gas motor. So those who live in Condos or Apartment complexes will not be able to take advantage of the ability to plug the car in. Many potential buyers do not own single family homes but will still get the advantage of 100 MPG.

Why is it these car companies can't stay with the concept design? The original design is what won over the public and then they come out with this watered down design, which looks similar to the everything esle...UGLY!

It's looks good, it's "green" 100 miles to the gallon, and apparently to be built in the U.S. How can you go wrong? Scott I disagree this important step to take the U.S. into the future of Hybrid Technology.. To be honest the prius looks like crap... Just another guy trying to knock U.S. effort, for innovative technology, and bringing back American jobs.

Totally blew it from the concept. I was thinking about buying it because I always by GM, not Toyota, which is what this looks like. Same old cookie-cutter, lame-ass Hybrid crap. I thought for sure a company as cool as Chevrolet could do better. If another car manufacturer comes out with one that looked like the concept, guess I'll have to defect from Chevrolet.

Well, it's way better looking than the Pirus. Whoever thought the Volt would look like the concept is out of their minds.
