Knight Rider Running on All Eight Cylinders?
Knight Rider Running on All Eight Cylinders?KITT has apparently switched DNA, now a blue oval as opposed to a tricked-out Pontiac with an '80s-futuristic cyclops eye. The new series instead features a Ford Shelby GT 500 KR Mustang, an appropriate switch, perhaps, given that young Michael Traceur (played by Justin Bruning) is the estranged son of the original series' Michael Knight (David Hasselhoff).
The New KITT's "weapon's [sic] systems match that of a jet fighter," they say, leading us to ponder just exactly what KITT's "weapon" is, and how many systems said weapon commands. Presumably, KITT's schwartz is bigger than all of the lesser villain's rides; NBC proudly announce that "Kitt and Michael will continue to travel across the country on their fun, escapist ride pursuing bad guys and saving the day."
Was it an enraged, drunken phone call soured the relationship between Knight and Traceur? Frankly, we haven't had time to indulge in the new show because we've been glued to the Internet, watching our 401(k)s and blue chips melt into obscurity.
With TV Guide's Adam Bryant claiming "the series itself has yet to pick up much speed," perhaps Universal Media Studios and Dutch Oven Productions should put this one back in and turn on the broiler.--Colin Mathews

The show has been in the NBC lineup since September 24. KITT has apparently switched DNA, now a blue oval as opposed to a tricked-out Pontiac with an '80s-futuristic cyclops eye. Yawn "like so 80's"
Then again with the US car makers lost in some time warp maybe it is fitting.

So growing up with the original Knight Rider, I was excited about the new series. I have watched it, and I will say that there are 3 redeeming qualities to the new show. 1) During "normal" mode KITT is one hell of a good looking car. 2) The show usually is full of other cool cars. 3) Justin Burning is just damn sexy!
Other than that the show is really kind of stupid.

It is really pathetic, both on TV and in the Movies, that almost NOBODY has any NEW IDEAS for screenplays, series etc any more, and instead they resurrect the LAMEST OF THE LAME and make re-dos of ancient ones instead.
And this Knight rider BS is the lamest of the lame.
People may have watched it in the 80s because there was nothing else on the meager few pitiful pre-cable channels, and no internet either.
Now they got much better things to do with their time.

A show like this would have more success if there was a corresponding video game -- seems to be the right demographic. With all the other entertainment alternatives, this one will never make my TV screen. It ranks below Springer and that's low!
