Pricing Announced on 2009 Toyota Venza

Today, Toyota announced pricing on its new 2009 Venza crossover, a vehicle that basically takes the place of the Camry wagon that hasn't been sold in years. It also fills a (microscopic) niche left behind after a recent upsizing of the Highlander. Toyota has an exhaustive lineup of not-quite-a-car, not-quite-a-truck (and definitely not-quite-a-minivan) vehicles, from the newly designed Toyota Highlander to the RAV4 and the Lexus RX350. The Venza veers toward the vanilla side of the crossover equation, being built on a Camry chassis alongside that vehicle and the Avalon at its plant in Georgetown, Ky.

The most basic Venza starts at $25,975 and is motivated by a 2.7-liter four-cylinder and front-wheel drive. Four-cylinder AWD models begin at $27,425, V-6 front-wheel-drive models at $27,800, and V-6 AWD models $29,250.

The new 2009 Toyota Venza, recently driven by our staff, has carlike moves but the taller view out and the bold styling Americans have flocked to at dealerships. Buyers may option up to 20-inch wheels as well as Toyota's excellent 3.5-liter corporate V-6.
