SEMA 2008: HUMMER's Still Here

Despite being up on the auction block, HUMMER still beats with a GM heart, at least as of SEMA '08. The purveyor of over-the-top SUVs says that its H3T Weekend Warrior concept "demonstrates the added extreme capability and functionality that can be accomplished with the H3T and a few weekends in the garage."

The H3T's 5.3-liter Chevy smallblock V-8 gets nearly 70 additional horsepower via upgrades available to the consumer through GM Performance Parts. LS2 cylinder heads, a higher-lift camshaft, and additional engine components are responsible for the horsepower boost, as is a custom 3.5-inch exhaust system.

A beefy race-proven suspension sits on 35-inch-tall (and mpg-destroying) BFGoodrich Baja T/A tires mounted on HUMMER Accessories 20-inch wheels. They say that "the modified suspension improves the H3T's inherent off-road capability, making it the ideal high-speed desert chase truck." Perhaps G. W. Bush could sport this trailblazer in Crawford, Texas, once he has a little more time on his hands come 2009.

Rounding out the outdoorsy mods are a KTM 450 SX-F dirt bike mounted with the H3T's cargo management system, a bed extender, and carry-off cargo boxes. The Baja Orange Metallic custom paint is joined by off-road lamps, a body-color upper grille, and custom hood graphics. Inside the truck is a black leather-trimmed environment with matching orange accent stitching and carbon fiber instrument panel accents.

Hummer may be on its way out, but not without first making a big, bright, blinding orange bang in Vegas.--Colin Mathews

    Yes, Hummer is still here.
This reminded me of a joke by the late Maurice Chevalier who compared women of different ages to continents.
I believe the women over a certain age (60? 80?) were said to be like Australia.
In the sense that everybody knows where it is, but nobody cares to go there.
Same with the assorted ugly-ass Hummers.
