Mitsubishi Becomes Fifth Automaker to Pull Out of NAIAS
Mitsubishi Becomes Fifth Automaker to Pull Out of NAIASOther automakers are rumored to be strongly considering their attendance, and AutoWeek claims that many are privately reconsidering their auto show participation in general. Mitsubishi wished to keep a presence in Detroit, but ultimately decided to cut costs in a market where it doesn't do a huge amount of business. Too bad it couldn't save a little corner for the excellent new Honda Fit-size Colt, which Mitsubishi dealers must be crying over (a pity it won't be sold in the United States).
Nonetheless, Joe Serra, co-chair of the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, claims there will still be 45-50 unveilings at this year's show, about typical for Detroit. Space is always at a premium in Detroit's Cobo Hall where the show is held, and Serra expects that the show will be full this year with new entrants like BMW's Chinese partner Brilliance Auto filling in the gaps and making its first U.S. appearance.--Colin Mathews

The Japanese automaker joins ranks with Rolls-Royce, Land Rover, Ferrari, and Suzuki in declining to participate in Detroit's January show, according to AutoWeek. Porsche has not had a presence in Detroit since 2006. Dave wrote: "this stupid “magnificent 7 Bondmobile”. Now he says he never said that BMWS "where" (SIC!) stupid. WHy would I care to take anything else he says seriously. And I never used a shrink, BUT we had an excellent college level psych class in Highschool, which used a college text, and I have read an almost 1,000 page bio of Freud by the great Irv Stone. But I still am not interested in taking you as a client.
meanwhile, enjoy your Dodge Neon or Chevy Aveo or Ford FOcus or whatever it is that you "drive".
