Mercedes-Benz says it's celebrating the end of the production run of its SLR McLaren with a final edition that's stripped down, stoked up and named for the most famous racer to pilot one of its cars.

The 2009 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss is the swan song for what Benz calls the best-selling supercar of all time. The basics are all there--a 650-horsepower supercharged V-8, a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 218 miles per hour.

The transformation into a Stirling Moss SLR exchanges the two-seater's already minimal top for a roofless, windshield-free experience.  Also unique: a super-brief production run of just 75 units, each priced at about $1 million each. That's if you could buy one in the U.S.--this final experience won't be available to American customers. For other loyal SLR customers--the only folks who will be allowed to purchase one--plan on a summer delivery.
