As we reported the other day, Jag has set a new speed record for itself out on the Bonneville Salt flats last November 7th. Significantly, the dizzying speed was attained in a mostly stock XFR, the new 5.o-liter supercharged bruiser that is eager to do battle in the high-performance luxury segment occupied by the likes of the Mercedes E63 AMG and the BMW M5.

Jag wants you to forget your notions of their vehicles as stuffy old chariots with J-gates and creamy, detached suspensions for gentle treatment of aging backsides. They also want you to forget their awkward X-Type small car experiment, with noisy, humdrum Ford mechanicals and a cramped interior.

So strap yourself in and take a ride with the Leaper in this lightly-modified XFR out on the Bonneville flats. 225.675 mph should give your old perceptions of this very British brand a thorough How's Your Father as you thrill to supercharger whine, exhaust bellow, and sone electric guitar. Enjoy.
