It’s been official since early July that the 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour will arrive in showrooms this fall, but today the automaker finally lifted the covers off its newest model addition after weeks of drip-fed teasers.
Toyota has had the Venza, a similar crossover-wagon hybrid design, on the market for about a year now, leaving Honda a bit late to the party. With the same range of powertrains found in the Accord and a possible 2.3-liter turbocharged engine borrowed from the Acura RDX in the pipeline, the Accord Crosstour should be a largely familiar experience, despite the new body shape.
Acura recently unveiled its own take on the crossover/car mix with the BMW X6-like ZDX four-door coupe. Honda's more 'tall wagon'-like Accord Crosstour appears to be targeting the more family-oriented side of the market, leaving Acura to go after the performance buyer.
Derived from the Accord Sedan, the Accord Crosstour maximizes car-like ride and refinement, yet maintains capabilities consistent with a crossover’s increased ride height and all-weather potential. The Accord Crosstour's styling builds on the Accord's familiar character lines and adds a bolder front grille complemented by a durable lower-body appearance, wedge-shaped C-pillars and an aggressive rear stance. The flowing roofline narrows smoothly into the rear of the vehicle to create an aggressive-looking design, which conceals an adjustable cargo area.

Great news. I have been asking Honda to produce a station wagon for years. This will put my Passat wagon out of its (and my) misery.

Leave it to honda to challenge the competition.Only this time they messed things up. What is this thing? Another marketing strategy that will first take off with a bang ( dealerships will obviously try and get over msrp at first, so some poor guy could be the first to drive this mess of a developement). Why can't honda just put more time into their pilot and create a great hybrid with a real sexy body and call it a day. Americans love there large suv's and trying to downsize with this cross between a hatchback civic, an accord sedan , an Suv ( as I say it loosely) , just doesn't move me enough to slap down my hard earned money. Maybe honda should come out with there own stimulus program called cash for kooks..........

Looks like the sushi was rancid the day they were designing this. What a waste of resources, they just should have built a sport wagon w/awd option.

Looks like an oversized Honda Insight from the back. I don't mind the front, but that rear end screems hatchback, not wagon. Honda has messed up their designs in the last few years. The new Pilot, new Ridgeline are ugly.

This, and the Acura ZDX were beat with the ugly stick.
The sad part in all of it is that Honda does have, and has had, a line of attractive "estates" (station wagons) in Europe.

Every teaser picture I saw over the past weeks had me interested if not excited to see the whole car. WHAT A LET DOWN! However, since there are so many people that seem to think Hoda can do no wrong, I'm guessing if they build it they will come (and buy it).
