The Snatch Land Rover has an unfortunate name and an even more unfortunate history: though used frequently by the British military, the model has come under criticism for offering too little protection to troops. In fact, since 2005, 37 soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan and Iraq while riding in the vehicles. Now, the mother of one of those soldiers has won a victory in court: although justices won't review the safety of the vehicles themselves--at least not yet--they will investigate why the British government has refused to hold a safety inquiry in the first place. It's a small win, but it's a step toward closure. [BBC]
