Interesting news from Chrysler today: apparently, the much-maligned, decidedly unsafe, recently shelved PT Cruiser isn't headed for the graveyard just yet. The update comes via a bland, stilted tweet from a staffer deep inside pentastar headquarters (could someone please get those folks some coffee?), but we suppose "Chrysler announces PT Cruiser will remain in production" is clear enough. And we're guessing that means "beyond the existing 2011 extension". So, um, yay? [Twitter via Jalopnik]

As someone who is forced to rent these cars on occasion I am very disappointed to hear this news. Hopefully Chrysler will make enough of these for all their fans and car rental agencies will not be stuck with them.

Ari- I couldnt agree with you more- why in Gods name would anyone want to buy this piece of crap car. One of the worst i have every driven.Perhaps the dealer version is much better... who the hell knows.

I looove the look of this car! very accurate balance of classic and modern design.
I've owned every kind of car including Porsche, Cadillac and Lexus. I started with a 2001 PT model. Now own a 2006 GT convertible. It is much better (dependable) than my Porsche - and gets more attention than any Cadillac or Lexus.
