Taking a cue from innovative thinkers who've learned to monetize farting, belching, yodeling, and other profit-rich activities, Avis has finally entered the iPhone app arena. The company's new free application (link opens in iTunes) allows you to search for and rent vehicles in a variety of locations around the country. Given its smokin' two-star review, we expect the app to work about as well as rental car websites -- which means we expect the same confused faces at the Avis counter when we arrive to pick up our convertible for the weekend.
