It's been teased in brief sketches and computer-generated renderings, and now the 2011 Infiniti M is here--almost.

These are the first live shots of the car, revealing its svelte new design in its truest form so far. For the new generation, Infiniti’s designs have injected the M with a coupe-like profile, a range of more powerful--and hopefully more fuel-efficient--engines, and increased interior space.

The live shots also give us a much better indication of the car’s overall proportions and stance out on the road. Clearly evident is the car’s styling connection with the stunning 2009 Infiniti Essence Concept, as well as a boxier front end that we saw recently on leaked shots of the 2011 Infiniti QX56 SUV.

With the new body style, comes a new powertrain range. The base car comes outfitted with Nissan's 3.7-liter V-6, which rates at about 330 horsepower in its other applications. That 2011 Infiniti M37 will be joined by the M56, which gets the big "Endurance" V-8 for a power output of more than 400 horsepower. Inside, an array of wood-grain and metal surfaces lend an even more upscale look than the current car. All models will come standard with a seven-speed automatic as standard.

The new Infiniti M range will make its official debut at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show in December, ahead of its sales launch pegged for early next year. Follow the link below to see more live shots of the 2011 Infiniti M. Otherwise, check out our previous story by clicking here.
