It's Official: Corvette Does 3.7

Consider it official: Chevrolet says the 2006 Corvette Z06 will be the company's fastest ever. The 505-hp Z06 is set to hit 60 mph in 3.7 seconds--while still in first gear, Chevy says in a press release. Please, somebody tell me why!

For the life of me, I can’t begin to understand why people do the things they do while driving or operating a motor vehicle. Sometimes I look at them and wonder if I should move to Madagascar or Tierra del Fuego, or if they should get traffic summons requiring their attending a 30 day traffic school or move to Lingkungan Hidup Indonesia and deal with one of the worst traffic in the world, without regard to human civility. Growing up in New Jersey, I always had to keep a pocket full of change at the ready. You couldn't get anywhere without a toll road -- well, not unless you were willing to try to navigate the state's labyrinthine local road network. The most frustrating part of relying on the Garden State Parkway was the endless stops, roughly every 10 miles, to toss quarters into the toll basket.
