Editor's Note: For those of you who know it's not really legal to drive Korean-spec cars in the U.S., well, we wouldn't call this news report a "first drive." There may have been some use of the gas pedal, steering, and some suspension motion. A turn signal or two. Definitely some gears changing. A first drive of the 2011 Equus? That would be nitpicking.

2010 BMW 7-Series Gets xDrive Option And New Twin-Turbodiesel

Following its successful introduction into the market last year, the BMW 7-series is further expanding its position in 2010 with the launch of several new models and accessories. In addition to the new M Sport Package, which is available for all models in the 7-series range, both normal and extended wheelbase, the 2010 BMW 7-seires also gets optional xDrive all-wheel-drive as well as a new 740d model.

The BMW 740d, to be introduced in the third of the year in select markets, will for the first time feature a new straight-six diesel engine with BMW’s TwinPower direct-injection and twin-turbocharging technologies. The engine displaces...

BMW 7-Series Gets All-Wheel Drive For 2010

It's hard to believe, but BMW still doesn't offer all-wheel drive on its 7-Series flagship sedan. That oversight is set to be fixed for the 2010 model year, however, and we'll likely see the first examples shortly after the 2010 BMW 7-Series makes its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Initial availability of the new all-wheel drive powertrain will be limited to the 407-horsepower turbocharged V-8 750i and its long-wheelbase variant, the 750iL. It's not yet clear if other models will get the new xDrive tag as well.
