San Antonio Nissan Fans Hoping For Rain On August 8

San Antonio Nissan Fans Hoping For Rain On August 8

World Nissan in San Antonio, Texas is making customers an interesting offer: buy Nissan Altima between July 15 and August 1, and if it rains in San Antonio on August 8, the dealership will refund the car's purchase price. The promotion comes by way of the dealership's car sales manager, "Big Al" Ortiz, and to be fair, the odds are slanted in his favor: the rules stipulate that the rain on August 8 has to reach deluge levels (i.e. two inches or more), and San Antonio is in the midst of a major drought. Steve Parrett, Nissan North America spokesman, explained that employees in both plants will take three successive Fridays off without pay: Oct. 17, 24, and 31. Parrett is unsure of how many workers this affects. All three vehicles under the Altima nameplate are affected: Sedan, Coupe, and Hybrid. This move shows just how deep economic troubles run in the auto industry, as even a relatively healthy Nissan Motors is cutting back and trimming costs, or in this case responding to...
