Starting now, Facebook Connect is available on TheCarConnection.com, along with the rest of the sites in our High Gear Media group of auto destinations (GreenCarReports, MustangBlog, AllSmallCars and AllCarsElectric, to name a few). This new feature allows our users to sign into our 38 automotive Web sites using their Facebook logins, comment on stories we produce more easily than ever, and then quickly share those comments with their friends through their Facebook profile.

For the right business entity, GM brands Saturn and HUMMER brands would make an excellent buy. The two for-sale GM divisions have hand-picked dealer networks plus an established infrastructure that make them a nearly-ready-for-prime-time vehicle brand. All that's needed is future product.

GreenCarReports.com, a partner site to TheCarConnection, carried this story yesterday regarding the new federal economy standards. Editor-in-Chief John Voelcker cleaved through much of the rhetoric to highlight some important points overlooked by many media outlets.

Namely; - That California retains its rights to set its own standards after 2016. - That a new energy policy is coming, and that this is code speak for a huge new gas tax.

The first point clearly contradicts one of the main goals of the new regulation, that is to have one national standard. At least there will only be one set of rules for the next six years ... that gives...
