Spotted: BMW Z Vision Concept

At the Geneva Motor Show in 2008, BMW unveiled the X5 EfficientDynamics concept, a hybrid diesel variant of the BMW X5 luxury SUV. Last week, BMW announced that it's bringing a new concept vehicle to Frankfurt this September -- a vehicle that will take the EfficientDynamics concept at least one step further, if not more. Not only is this model expected to employ sustainably derived materials in its construction, but rumor has it that the vehicle will also be powered by an electric motor.

Now, photos have emerged that claim to have caught the vehicle -- the BMW Z Vision Concept -- en route to the Frankfurt Motor Show. Although most of the...

BMW Re-Launches Isetta Brand With New Marketing Campaign

We don't have the chance to discuss the Isetta very much -- mostly because the hard-to-miss mid-century minicar is a rarity on this side of the Atlantic. In Europe, however, the Isetta was a popular model, and on a good day, you might even still see a few navigating  narrow city streets. Clearly, BMW is hoping to cash in on European nostalgia for the model, as it's in the early stages of re-launching the brand.

The semi-official launch comes by way of a new commercial (embedded above) and by an unnamed source cited on the BMW blog, who says the Isetta "will be a reimagining of the original cult classic using today’s and tomorrows...

Video: Hole In Windshield Improves Convertible Driving

Convertibles are wonderful things, but riding in them -- especially at high speeds -- can take the fun out of what ought to be an exhilarating experience. Due to aerodynamics, the wind whipping around the vehicle has a tendency to jumble up inside the cabin, making for a noisy, hair-tossing ride. Luckily, some enterprising students at Stanford University (in the BMW-funded OpenRoad project), found a simple solution: just punch a hole in the windshield. This isn't the world's best video clip, but the difference is still noticeable.  [YouTube via Autoblog]
