What's the new entry fee for Porsche's mid-engine gems, just updated for '09 with lots of new engineering and some styling tweaks? $47,550 for the drop-top Boxster and some ten grand more for the more athletic S version ($57,650). If you want the marginally tighter structure afforded by the fixed-roof Cayman version that rides the same platform, prices start at $51,250 for the base, $61,150 for the S. 2009 Fisker Karma: This Time It's Real, Or So They Say

The 2009 Detroit Auto Show is shaping up to be as happy as a visit to a chemo ward, but at least one automaker is bucking the trend of abandoning Cobo Hall for later shows: Fisker. The electric/hybrid carmaker--er, startup, since it hasn't built car one--says the 2009 Detroit show will showcase the production version of its Karma hybrid sedan shown here. The Karma's gasoline engine, in fact, will be a GM Ecotec four-cylinder. Unlike the Volt, the Karma's not a serial hybrid,... 2009 Porsche Boxster and Cayman Make World Debut

Porsche is serious about its current birthday. Lots of fun people showed up at the L.A. Auto Show to celebrate, including marque aficionado Jerry Seinfeld and notable Porsche racer Hurley Haywood. This year, 2008, marks the brand's 60th year of production (that would mean the first Porsche was built in 1948 for those who count on their fingers). Sandwiched in between the introduction of the new 911 and upcoming four-door Panamera, Porsche gives its loyal followers yet another present, the 2009 Boxster and 2009 Cayman. Exterior updates on each are minor, and include new headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, and a few other particulars. Larger... Porsche is serious about its current birthday.
