Jay Leno signed off from The Tonight Show a couple of months back, but he hasn't spent the downtime resting on his laurels. In fact, it's pretty clear that Leno has invested a lot of energy planning his new small-screen venture: an hour-long, prime-time show on NBC, set to launch in September. And as you might expect from Leno, he's hoping to give airtime to his favorite obsession: cars, especially those of the eco-friendly variety.

Even in these green, economically troubled times, the Chevrolet Suburban has at least one fan: Mary Cheney, politico and daughter of "former" vice president Dick Cheney. A new book by Ronald Kessler claims Cheney demanded that her Secret Service detail chauffeur her around town, and she was particularly envious of the spankin' new Suburban allotted to her sister, Elizabeth. Says Cheney of the book's allegations: "These stories are simply not true, and I have nothing but the utmost respect for the men and women of the Secret Service." Do you know this man? Apparently his name is Cristian de la Fuente, and he's on Dancing with the Stars -- a show that we've never been able to watch because we're always reading press releases and going on test drives and other stuff on your behalf. (You're welcome.) Anyway, Cristian and other heavy-hitting Hollywood E-list types like Ugly Betty's Angelica Vale have come out in favor of the Cash-for-Clunkers program because of "the large impact the bill has on the Latino community and other immigrant groups."
