♦ Someone smarter than us once said that nothing succeeds like excess. If that's true, the converted ragtop, scissor-doored, six-person Prowler limo up for auction on eBay is America's next Bill Gates. ♦ Tesla has issued a recall for 75% of its Tesla Roadsters (i.e. the only car it has in production)....

You might think Chrysler would be doubled over in pain these days, given all the tsoris of bankruptcy court. But in fact, the company is holding its head high and has developed big plans for tomorrow--at least on paper.

Yesterday, those plans made their way to the U.S. Department of Energy, when Chrysler handed over a $448-million proposal to develop a slate of green vehicles lickety-split. Most of the vehicles included in the plan would be electric and plug-in hybrid versions of the Chrysler Town & Country and the Dodge Ram, based on their broad demographic appeal.

Of course, Chrysler didn't compile this proposal for product...

Last week, bankrupt Chrysler announced that it would sever ties with 789 dealers. The news was delivered by UPS. None too elegant, eh. Kind of like getting smacked in the head with a frying pan.

According to a story that appeared today in Automotive News, these closures have opened some retail markets. Chrysler President Jim Press noted that the closings create "a number of open point opportunities," in those markets where Chrysler wants to be, but hasn't had strong dealers.
