Bentley Bullish, Ramps-Up Rollout Of Continental, Flying Spur

Bentley Bullish, Ramps-Up Rollout Of Continental, Flying Spur

Good news for Bentley fans: the British automaker is so jazzed about the economy that it's rolling out a new model of the Continental GT Coupe in 2010, not 2011 as previously announced. Also coming in 2010: replacements for the Flying Spur sedan and Continental GTC convertible. Also: no, we're not kidding.

The news was sparked by Stuart McCullough, Bentley's board member for sales and marketing, who feels very "in touch" with his target demographic and wants to strike while the iron is hot:

"We know that coming out of the dip is when new models will pay off," he said. "We have done enough work with our customers to understand what they are...

Bentley, Elizabeth Arden Ignore Recession, Have Luxury One-Nighter

Bentley, Elizabeth Arden Ignore Recession, Have Luxury One-Nighter

Gathering Depression be damned (right along with sinking Bentley sales): last Thursday, Bentley Motors teamed up with Elizabeth Arden to present the Luxury Limited Edition Night against "the suggestive backdrop of the Bentley Motors showroom in Rome." If you're going to have an over-the-top one-nighter, make it count, right?

The centerpieces of the night were Arden's Grey Flannel Value Set and the Rome intro of the 2009 Bentley Flying Spur Speed. Exactly what the setting suggested we're not sure, though outlandish and conspicuous consumption come to mind. While the value of Arden's Gray Flannel limited edition package (price not given) is...

Driving Bentley's 200-mph Flying Spur Speed

Driving Bentley's 200-mph Flying Spur Speed The new Bentley Continental Flying Spur Speed has finally made its formal debut at the London Motor Show. While some folks simply have to watch from the sidelines, I'm pleased to say I had the opportunity to drive the latest offering from the crew in Crewe, and after a few hours behind the wheel, I must admit, I'm hooked on Speed. The new sedan moves a heck of a lot faster than its name rolls off the tongue - thanks to an astounding, 600-horsepower version of the Bentley W-12. That's 48 hp more than the "base" speed - if you'll allow that word with a car in this price range - and will launch you from 0-60 in a neck-snapping 4.5 seconds....
