Women Drinking, Driving, DUI-ing

Bad news: women account for an increasingly large number of DUI arrests, while the number of men hauled in for drinking and driving appears to be -- get this -- falling. Says one rep from the California Office of Traffic Safety, "younger women feel more empowered, more equal to men, and have been beginning to exhibit the same uninhibited behaviors as men." Ordinarily, we like uninhibited people, but this clearly crosses the (center) line. Fortunately, we think we know who's to blame for the trend. (Hint: look to the left.) [AP]

BestParking.com Aims For Best Parking Rates

Let's face it: driving in a strange city blows. Even with GPS, you're not sure where you're going, cabbies honk you down at every turn, and worst of all, you don't know where to find decent parking. Sadly, there's no easy fix for the first two, but for the third, you might zip over to BestParking.com, a website that features a substantial database of parking facilities in seven U.S. cities, plus most major airports across the country. On both the desktop and mobile version, you can find addresses and even calculate rates to find the best spot. It doesn't offer the same thrill as giving a cabbie the finger, but hey: baby steps. We explained that texting forces your eyes off the road far longer than simply adusting your stereo or even making a call. In fact, at highway speed, looking down to send a 140-character message is like "covering the length of a football field at 55 mph without looking at the road".

But that hasn't deterred you. Apparently, you're still texting, so now the federal government is getting involved: according to a...
