Video: Jay Leno Goes Cheek-To-Cheek With The Tango EV

Video: Jay Leno Goes Cheek-To-Cheek With The Tango EV

With a price tag north of $100,000 and a production run of just 11 units, Commuter Cars' Tango EV isn't likely to become a bestseller on the lots -- but then, with Jay Leno test-driving it for all the world to see, you never know. It may be terrifyingly tiny, boasting a profile that only a mother could love, but with a four-second sprint from 0 to 60 mph, we could learn to overlook a lot. (Also noteworthy: it's a finalist for the Progressive Automotive X-Prize, and future models are expected to ring in under $20,000.) Take a look at the video below for Jay's take on the tiny, tangerine, tandem-seater.

(In fact, that was listed among the most significant obstacles facing the MINI E just last week.) Now, a sprawling coalition of business leaders -- including Nissan's outspoken CEO, Carlos Ghosn -- have announced an aggressive plan to address  such problems and speed America down the EV highway. Called the "Electrification Roadmap", the plan calls for EVs to make up 75% of all light-duty traffic by the year 2040. Central to the plan's strategy is the development of "electrification ecosystems" in key cities (rather than...

CEOs Go Green, Evora Priced, GM Financials: Today at High Gear Media

The biggest news in the industry this morning is GM's release of its first post-bankruptcy financial results, revealing an operating loss of $261 million and a "managerial net loss" of $1.2 billion. But despite the red bottom lines, there may yet be hope as the new GM generated $28 billion in revenue in the third quarter, an increase of more than 20% over the old GM's previous quarter.

A group of 13 CEOs including Carlos Ghosn, Nissan's chief, are getting together to plan how to get EVs up to 75% of total vehicle miles in the U.S. by 2040. Get the full scoop over at GreenCarReports. On a similar--though decidedly less serious--note,...
