Transformer Auctioned: 2005 Saleen Mustang 'Barricade'

If you're a fan of the 2007 Transformers movie, you might be interested to know that the 2005 Saleen Mustang "Barricade" featured in the film was recently put up for auction. (You might have been even more interested if you'd known about this before the auction took place, but sometimes we're slow on the draw.) The 4.6-liter V8 went for a very reasonable $30,000 and is one of only three in existence. If we weren't so bummed out over Transformers ROTF, we might've even put in our own bid. [iCollector]

First Sketches: 2011 Chevrolet Viva, or Agile, formerly Aveo

We've known for a while that the Chevrolet Aveo would be replaced by the 2011 Chevrolet Viva, which will be sold in Asia, Europe, and North and South America, courtesy of GM's new global product development process.

Now the first official renderings have landed from GM, and if the production car looks anything like the sketches, the new subcompact will have styling every bit as racy as that of the 2011 Ford Fiesta it will compete against.

Bob Lutz, who formerly headed GM product development and recently un-retired to return as head of marketing, has claimed the new car's design will be competitive or better with the best in its segment.

About Those Volt Pictures: So Where's Denise?

About Those Volt Pictures: So Where's Denise?

Volt-mania is real, and GM is riding it hard. The “leak” of a treasure trove of production Volt pictures is generating zillions of page-views right now—including a whole bunch here, since we broke the story. GM seems to be denying it, but the fact that the pix just popped up on an RSS feed is widely assumed to be the work of their (very savvy) Web PR folks.

But we just got an e-mail that made us scratch our heads a little: "So why did they have half a dozen badly dressed, slightly overweight, older white guys pose in front of the car, but not Denise [Gray]? This is a company that still doesn't get it."

Who’s Denise Gray? Oh, only GM’s...
