2011 Chevrolet Viva: Aveo Successor Takes On Fiesta

The replacement for the Chevrolet Aveo could be the new compact car GM CEO Fritz Henderson acknowledged in future plans as GM filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this morning.

That new car may be called the Viva, according to a report from Motor Trend.

GM's Henderson said in this morning's press conference following the GM Chapter 11 filing, that the company would restart a shuttered plant to resume production for a new compact vehicle. The plant and the vehicle haven't been named, but Motor Trend's sources say it's the Aveo replacement shown in a cropped spy shot here and in full view on their Web site.

Car-Based 2011 Ford Explorer Rumored For Chicago Assembly

It's looking like the 2011 Ford Explorer will be produced at the same Chicago factory that assembles the Ford Taurus X. This has fueled speculation that the next-gen Explorer will abandon the current vehicle's truck chassis in favor of a lighter car-based architecture.

Ford has indeed confirmed that its Torrence Avenue assembly plant, in Chicago, will be making a new vehicle, though they haven't confirmed just what that vehicle will be.
