Just In Time For Shopping Season: Car Finder For The iPhone

Just In Time For Shopping Season: Car Finder For The iPhone

Here at TCC, we cover a lot of applications for mobile devices, and at the risk of sounding like shills for Apple, we've stumbled across another one that could come in handy -- especially for mall mavens during the coming holiday season. The app is called "Car Finder", and it's designed to help you, well, find your car in a parking lot. After taking a photo of your vehicle, the app uses GPS and a digital compass to help you find your way back. We haven't given this one a test run yet, but at just $.99, chances are pretty good that'll happen -- as soon as we upgrade to the necessary 3GS handset, of course. [BoingBoing]

Video: LTE Connected Car May Be The Future Of Telematics

Over the past couple of weeks, we've mentioned several systems that bring home computer-like services to automobiles. We've discussed proprietary systems like Ford's Microsoft Sync and its rumored Hyundai rival, and, at the other end of the spectrum, in-car routers that function as "dumb pipes", bringing Wi-Fi to laptops and other web-enabled devices. Just yesterday, we wondered aloud when this technology would merge and simplify, shifting from static systems to something more like the internet computing we know and love: customizable, flexible, and adaptable to the diverse needs of drivers.

We're not there yet, but we're happy to  report...

Extreme Tailgating With The Scion Kogi xD From MV Designs

Extreme Tailgating With The Scion Kogi xD From MV Designs

Looking for something out-of-the-ordinary to wow your fellow tailgaters? You could go the obvious route with an impressively oversized SUV, but really, where's the fun in that? Far more interesting is this sweet ride from MV Designs, which crams everything you need for beers and brats into a modestly sized Scion xD. Preferring Pabst over passengers, most of the Scion Kogi xD's interior features (not to mention its tail lights) have been ditched in favor of kitchen gear, but hey,  no pain, no gain.
