Chrysler announced today that it will be the first automaker to offer in-car mobile TV with a full channel lineup. The new service, FLO TV Auto Entertainment, will bring up to 20 channels for a monthly fee that's low in comparison to existing satellite services.

Safety Group Points To Jeep Grand Cherokee Fire Concerns

On Friday, the Center for Auto Safety petitioned NHTSA to initiate a defect investigation that could potentially cover hundreds of thousands of Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs from model years 1993 through 2004.

According to the group, on these older Grand Cherokee models, the plastic fuel tank actually extends below the bumper, so it's more vulnerable to being punctured in an rear-end or rollover accident. The rear sway bar link bolt is just over an inch away from the tank, according to research from the Motor Vehicle Fire Research Institute (MVFRI), and could puncture the tank in a crash.

Chrysler Sues Daimler Over Supply Shortcomings

Having just come through a complicated series of bankruptcy proceedings, you might think Chrysler would want to take a break from courtrooms for a while. However, on August 21 the company filed suit against its former parent, Daimler AG, in U.S. bankruptcy court. According to Chrysler, Daimler has reneged on supply contracts, and the resulting lag in vehicle components has the potential to affect Chrysler's production at facilities in the U.S. and Canada.

The trouble began when Chrysler was accused of owing Daimler €55 million ($78.7 million) because Chrysler didn't purchase as many of Daimler's 2.2-liter diesel engines as it said it would....
