2010 Nissan GT-R Gets Smart Updates

It's no secret that TCC loves the Nissan GT-R, and next model year, we're apt to like it even more. Nissan has announced that the 2010 GT-R will feature a handful of modest updates that represent smart tweaks to a well-designed original, rather than a complete overhaul.

The most notable change affects the GT-R's transmission. You might recall that some owners of the debut 2009 model experienced problems with the coupe's gearbox. Nissan's new Transmission Control Module should fix that by improving clutch engagement on the 6-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Nissan GT-R Sets Guinness Record

For some time now, TCC staffers have felt lust in their hearts for the Nissan GT-R. In his Bottom Line review, our own Marty Padgett calls it "a supercar in all but price tag—a bargain Bugatti Veyron at less than one-tenth the price".  Now, we have one more reason to admire it: the GT-R has just entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest four-seater series production car, with a 0-100km (62mph) time of 3.5 seconds. With all that power, speed, style, who cares if it's ridiculously expensive to insure?
