HUMMER H3, H3T Production To Restart By November?

HUMMER H3, H3T Production To Restart By November?

HUMMER's sale is all but complete--though there are some worrying details left to be handled with the Chinese government--and talk of production resuming in the Shreveport plant where the H3 and H3T are built is already starting to leak out from the company.

Dealers will be glad to hear the news, should it prove true, as many are running so low on inventory that they've had to shutter their showrooms temporarily. They'll still face a bit of a wait, however, as production isn't rumored to restart until November.

Once it does get back underway, the transition back to sales should be smooth, as Tengzhong plans to keep CEO James Taylor and...

Whatever You Did To Your Car, Mother Nature Did Worse

We have friends who are weather fans, or weather fiends. They reload storm maps obsessively, and converse in the language of descending fronts and scattered sprinkles. We are not those people. We just get rained on occasionally.

But even we were drawn into the Weather Channel's website by its compelling slideshow of the carnage Mother Nature can wreak on innocent vehicles doing nothing more than sitting in a driveway when, say, a tornado happened to visit.

Electric HUMMER H3 In Washington: Any Impact?

Electric HUMMER H3 In Washington: Any Impact?

I first saw the 2009 HUMMER H3 by Raser Technologies at the SAE World Congress held last month in Detroit. The vehicle uses a powertrain similar to vehicles from Fisker Automotive; an electric drive motor that takes power from a large battery pack. The batteries are charged via a plug-in source and an on-board "range extender" generator powered by a GM Ecotec four-cylinder engine. FEV, a major automotive parts supplier, built the prototype.

We're scheduled to drive this H3 in June. What we can tell you now is that the performance is said to be strong at under 9 seconds 0-60 mph. Fuel economy is tougher to gauge as it depends on when you...
