Budding Designer Beats Mini To The Punch With Clubster S Roadster

The 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show is now only a couple of weeks away, and Mini in particular is ramping up to do the show in style. On Wednesday, the company revealed its new Coupe concept, and soon after that a sketch of a second Roadster concept that's expected to join the Coupe in Frankfurt surfaced online.

The Roadster has been expected for some time now; so much so that a budding designer--Richard Mitchell--has conceptualized what he thinks would be the ideal Mini Roadster in the form of this design model. Mitchell, incidentally, is a transportation design graduate from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

Early Reveal: Mini Roadster Concept

This week saw Mini celebrate the 50th anniversary of the unveiling of the brand's first car with the unveiling of an all-new Coupe concept. Today, the Roadster half of the new-car pair made its debut a bit early thanks to a leaked sketch.

Based around the same two-seat setup as the Mini Coupe, the Roadster offers an extra dimension of fun thanks to its retractable top. The same 211-horsepower John Cooper Works-derived powertrain is also expected to sit under the hood of the show car.
