Mitsubishi confirmed more than a year ago that its Concept-cX crossover that starred at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show would eventually enter production and today we have the first official preview sketch of the upcoming vehicle.

Built off Mitsubishi’s new mid-size global platform, the compact crossover will further support the automaker’s strategic shift from being an SUV-focused nameplate to a manufacturer of environment-friendly passenger cars and crossovers.

Mitsubishi has expanded its 2010 Lancer Evolution range with the new MR Touring model, which goes on sale for $40,990 (not including a $720 destination fee). Sitting at the top of the Lancer Evolution range, the new MR Touring doesn’t come cheap but its hefty pricetag is justified somewhat when you consider the performance of the car.

The 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR Touring comes packing a 291-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and sends power to all four wheels via the automaker’s six-speed Twin Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission (TC-SST) and Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) all-wheel drive system.

Though the first-generation Outlander was often overlooked, the latest 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander has emerged as a well-rounded vehicle--on paper at least--and if the performance of its predecessor is anything to go by this latest model should be one of the sportiest-driving small crossovers on the market.
