Today General Motors unveiled its "GM Total Confidence" customer protection program. The plan may be accessed in the first 24 months of vehicle ownership.
Details include up to nine consecutive monthly payments of up to $500 on vehicle loans or leases any time within the first 24 months of ownership. If owners/lessees make it halfway through their financing contract on a GM vehicle, they quality for 'Vehicle Value Protection,' which is a form of insurance to keep vehicle value at a certain level upon trade in (but only on another GM vehicle). Chrysler CEO Bob Nardelli reacted positively to news of the Obama Administration, U.S. Treasury, and Auto Task Force's news of assistance as the automaker restructures and preps for an alliance with Italian automaker Fiat.
Nardelli says he's been meeting weekly with the Auto Task Force team since February 17, and says Chrysler appreciates the team's responsiveness and assistance. By curbing the energy used in its manufacturing operations at plants in Ohio and Alabama, Honda announces today that it's the recipient of U.S. EPA Energy Star awards. Honda of America Manufacturing's Marysville, Ohio plant as well as their East Liberty, Ohio plant, earned the EPA's top energy performance score of 100 points. Approximately 77 percent of the vehicles Honda sells in the U.S. are produced in North America.
The majority of the energy savings are due to new efficiencies in lighting, chiller systems, motors, metering, heating, compressed air, and air-conditioning at the production facilities.
