You might be able to swing quite a deal today on one of the most luxurious off-road-worthy barges, but be prepared to pay extra—over and over again—in your insurance premiums.

The 2009 Mercedes-Benz G-Class, 2009 Hummer H2, and 2009 Range Rover rank as the most expensive SUVs to insure, according to the insurance shopping site Insure.com.

Jaguar Announces Plans For XJ Hybrid

Jaguar Land Rover plans to release a hybrid version of the Jaguar XJ around 2011, thanks to a £307 million ($452 million) loan the company has revceived from the European Investment Bank. That cash comes in addition to a loan of around £500 that JLR has already received from the EIB to help green its lineup.

According to reports, the re-worked XJ will rely on electric batteries for short-range trips, with a combustion engine at the ready to provide extended range and recharge the batteries. 2009 New York Auto Show: 2010 Land Rover Lineup Adds LR4, New Engines

Land Rover is taking the stage at this year's 2009 New York Auto Show with a completely revamped lineup of SUVs--including a renamed entry-level sport-ute.

The trio of Land Rover models now includes the 2010 LR4, the replacement for the outgoing LR3, as well as the Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport. All three share a normally aspirated, direct-injection 5.0-liter V-8 engine co-developed with Jaguar, updated sheetmetal and interiors, and according to Land Rover, more off-road prowess than ever.
