That seemed to be the intent of a survey of 1000 U.S. adults—not necessarily car owners or shoppers—conducted nearly a month ago by Ipsos Public Affairs for the used-car giant CarMax, asking the following: “Thinking about your car, would you say that it…”

Respondents were then given seven responses to choose from, with the opportunity to select multiple responses. An overwhelming 71 percent of respondents replied that a car “gets me from point A to point B,” and 30 percent said that a car “has to do it all without breaking the bank.”

More owners of the Infiniti G37 would recommend it to a friend than owners of any other model.

That’s according to data released earlier this month from the marketing research and consulting firm AutoPacific. For the first time this year, as part of its annual New Vehicle Satisfaction Survey, the firm asked “Would you recommend your new vehicle to a friend or relative?”

In-car television is still in its infancy--at least, the satellite-powered variety. But AT&T may have moved a step closer to delivering 22 channels of auto-aimed broadcasting with its CruiseCast service, announced last year and finally moving out of the vaporware phase.

Engadget reports that CruiseCast is finally rolling out, bit by bit. The telecom company is pushing out its satellite TV hardware to small groups of installers and customers as it executes a soft launch of the technically challenging concept.
