With the 2010 Kia Forte sedan headed to showrooms, and the 2010 Forte Koup coming later this summer, what's up next for Hyundai's sister division Kia?

Motor Trend reports Kia will have a busy 2011 model year ahead, with the first vehicle on its launch list coming from the U.S. The new Kia factory in West Point, Georgia, is in preproduction for the 2011 Kia Sorento, and the first versions of the new crossover vehicle should begin to ship to dealers early next year. The Sorento thus will skip the 2010 model year, as Kia purges dealers of the old, body-on-frame design that's been around since 2003.

Research and statistics firm Nielsen has released more data about U.S. shopping and buying habits, and as always, the company's findings are pretty interesting. In fact, after surveying 250,000 Americans online, Nielsen has identified a few causes for optimism in the auto industry, despite today's flailing economy.

Most importantly: Nielsen finds that people are shopping. Yes, vehicle sales are down, year-over-year--way down. Like, around 37% down.
